Standards and Software
Excite and engage your students using tool-based software. Educational software has traditionally consisted of drills and tutorials. However, tool-based software programs go beyond drills and tutorials since they are conducive to project-based learning where students are active participants in their learning while using problem-solving and higher-order thinking skills to create both individual and collaborative multi-media projects.
Visit http://etc.usf.edu/software for a free teacher resource that correlates Florida Sunshine State Standards to tool-based software applications and offers suggested teaching strategies as well as sample lesson plans on integrating technology in the classroom. The website is a valuable resource even if you are not teaching in Florida since the examples may be applied to your state's standards.
